Today looks like seeing the rollout of a brand new look by Google with what I feel is a much crisper and more modern front search page with feature packed search results that will no doubt have millions of naysayers running around waving their arms in disgust.
April 30th 2010 saw an important announcement over at the BumpTop Website which revealed that their BumpTop desktop software had been acquired by Google.
So what is BumpTop and why should it be of interest to Google?
BumpTop is a rather quirky 3D desktop environment with some excellent touch screen innovations that, like Marmite, you either love or hate. But rather than go into technicalities or long winded descriptions I have posted a YouTube video below that shows BumpTop in action.
As part of the ongoing development of this website, I have changed many of the heading tags to use and display a non-standard web font. The font chosen is a free font called Chiller and to display this font I have used an application called sIFR which takes your standard text and cleverly uses Flash and JavaScript to produce rich, accessible typography.
